Bedford Arts Council news:SUZANNE DONAZETTI EXHIBIT AND WORKSHOPEXHIBIT BY JOANNE LEEDS AND SARAH WERRENThe Bedford County Arts Council presents an exhibit by multimedia artists Joanne Leeds and Sarah Werren November 5-28.Known in some circles as “The Painter of Blight,” Ms. Leeds believes that all old buildings, whether historic or not, have a story to tell. She has been telling those stories for more than thirty years. Although she works in every medium, she has found that pen and ink or gouache (an opaque watercolor) “best bring out the weathered look of age.” She is Red Cross director for Bedford County. She lives and gardens in Everett with husband Gerry and a small herd of cats. Ms. Werren works in watercolor and gouache, focusing on the “little places” that we all see but don’t really look at. “It’s about taking time to recognize the balance and timelessness in nature.” She is also an accomplished potter. Some of her pieces are available in the Gallery Shop. Before moving to Bedford County, Ms. Werren taught art in Maryland and New York public schools. She also raced sports cars. She lives and gardens near Cessna with an elderly canine friend. The public is invited to meet the artists at an opening reception 1-3 p.m. Sunday, November 9. New “One For All” LotteryThe Bedford County Arts Council is starting a unique monthly lottery called One For all. Each month the amount collected will be equally divided three ways among the winner, the Bedford County Arts Council, and the winner’s choice from a list of non-profits. CPA Brad Koontz of Ritchey, Ritchey and Koontz will draw the monthly winners who will then be published in local papers. The donation is $5 per entry or five for $20. Entries are good for the month of purchase. Entries may be mailed to the Bedford County Arts Council at 137 East Pitt St. Bedford, PA 15522 or obtained from Bedford County Arts Center, Elaine’s Wearable Art, The Green Harvest, or The Bedford County Chamber of Commerce.
